Course Details
Every seafarer who is designated to apply immediate effective action in the event of an accident or illness on board a vessel must demonstrate competence to undertake the task, duties and responsibilities described in the subjects list in the column 1 of table A-VI/4- 1. The level of knowledge of the subjects shall be sufficient to enable the designated seafarer to take immediate effective action in the case of accidents or illness likely to occur on board ship.

• Revision of Marine Basic First Aid
• First Aid Kit
• Body structure and function
• Toxicological hazards aboard ship
• Examination of patient
• Spinal Injuries
• Burns scales and effects of heat and cold
• Fractures, dislocations and muscular injuries
• Medical care of rescued persons, including distress, hypothermia and cold exposure
• Radio medical advise
• Pharmacology
• Sterilization
• Cardiac arrest, drowning and asphyxia
• Psychological and psychiatric problems
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
• Automated External Defibrillation
Who should attend?
Every certificated officer and other ratings (including those in port limit vessels such as helmsman)

Able to read, write and understand simple English
